This was supposed to be another win ticked off on Liverpool’s . Instead, we got a crazy, madcap free-for-all when Liverpool surrendered their 26 game unbeaten run in the Premier League. .
And no wonder Fulham’s fans and players celebrated like they had won the cup because no-one could quite believe it as Fulham were brilliant and Liverpool were so poor. Liverpool are still 11 points clear. They still need only four wins to clinch the title. But they were so sloppy, they made so many mistakes and their defending was shocking.
Maybe it was a few chickens coming home to roost because they have not been as good in the past few weeks as they were earlier in the campaign. After all, they have and . But they have still carried on winning in the Premier League because no-one else has been very good.
But the wheels came off this time. And the only consolation is that no-one - - are remotely close or good enough to apply any degree of pressure.

Maybe that is the problem. Liverpool have been so comfortable for so long that it has been a cruise to the title. A predictable precession.
This sloppy performance - they probably made as many mistakes in the first half as they had in the last seven months since their- might have come out of complacency. No wonder Arne Slot looked angry. All three goals conceded came from mistakes and even their second half fight back was not enough to salvage something.
There were so many below-par performances. But Mo Salah’s lack of form - he has now not scored from open play in his last seven games - must be a concern. And still he did not get substituted.
The die was cast after just four minutes. Ibrahima Konate took a heavy touch, Andreas Pereira nicked the ball and Virgil van Dijk blocked Rodrigo Muniz. Heaven forbid referee Chris Kavanagh might give a decision against van Dijk.
Then Liverpool took a 14th minute lead - and it looked like normal service was about to resume. Fulham were indecisive, Alexis Mac Allister took up the ball, drove forward and held off two challenges before then a sensational 20 yard cross shot into the top corner.
The away end were chanting about winning the title and enjoying their day out by the banks of the Thames. Surely this was the cue for Liverpool to take charge and get their act together.

But the opposite happened. Pereira put over a cross which sailed to the back post, Curtis Jones misjudged it and it came off his knee and fell to Ryan Sessegnon who smashed home a brilliant equaliser.
Soon after, Liverpool’s sloppiness returned again. Andy Robertson’s woeful pass went straight to Alex Iwobi, his first shot was blocked but his second attempt deflected in off Robertson. Iwobi was terrific throughout. It quickly got worse. Liverpool failed to clear a corner, Iwobi smashed the loose ball into the air, Muniz outmuscled and then turned van Dijk before firing through keeper Caoimhín Kelleher’s legs.
Everyone looked in disbelief at half time. Slot resisted making changes but they quickly followed. Fulham keeper Bernd Leno denied Diogo Joto while Salah skied a half chance. Liverpool got one back after 72 minutes when Conor Bradley set up Luis Diaz - who was good after coming on - fired past Leno.
It set up a frantic finish and Harvey Elliott hit the crossbar but Fulham held on for a deserved win which set up wild celebrations at the final whistle. Fulham fans were on their knees, looking to the heavens. That just goes to show what beating this Liverpool team means.
