Arsenal have reached a verbal agreement with Sporting CP for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres, football.london understands and as first reported by David Ornstein. The club had agreed in principle a deal of €63.5million (£55million) with €10million (£8.7million) in add-ons just over a week ago.
Talks took place with Andrea Berta and the Portuguese side to find an agreement on the structure of the deal and the achievement requirements for the add-ons. Despite hope that other clubs would come in for the striker, the player’s adamance that he only wants Arsenal had worked in the north London side’s favour.
Gyokeres, once the complete agreement has been achieved, will undergo a medical before completing media responsibilities before the deal is announced. He can then fly out to Singapore to join his new teammates on pre-season.

While the deal comes too late for Arsenal’s match with AC Milan on Wednesday, there remain two more friendly matches against Newcastle United and north London rivals Tottenham to come.
