Ginny Buckley, the host of Escape to the Country, shared an emotional revelation in the latest episode as she discussed her poignant family loss.
On Wednesday afternoon's episode (October 30), Ginny returned to help couple Ele and Huw find their dream home in East Sussex, following a period of heartache in Hertfordshire. The duo was eager for a fresh start in the countryside after enduring a family tragedy.
Huw recounted his 2018 accident that required a lengthy recovery, and the subsequent loss of their beloved dog Bree. He recounted: "Quite a few months later just after our lives were getting back on track, our first dog Bree unfortunately, one day just had a seizure out of nowhere."
Ele, overcome with emotion, revealed their attempts to save Bree with medication, but ultimately they faced the heartbreaking decision to euthanise her. She tearfully said: "While we tried to see if medication and things would help. But after two weeks we had to make the decision to have her put to sleep, which is something I would always associate with this house."
In pursuit of joy, Huw and Ele hoped a new dog would lift their spirits, yet fate had other plans. They detailed how their new dog Chip was diagnosed with Elbow dysplasia, leading to further challenges for the family, reports .
Later in the show, Ginny opened up about her own heartache over the loss of her beloved dog. The presenter shared: "Oh bless them!
"I know exactly how they feel. I lost my best pal Rocko, the cocker spaniel last year and I still miss him every single day.
"You know really are man's and woman's best friend. But life for Ele and Huw has to go on and they've decided for a new house here in the High Weald."
While Ele and Huw were on their property-hunting journey, Ginny showed them three standout properties, with the mystery house winning their hearts the most. However, when push came to shove, the couple chose to keep looking for their dream home online.
