Gary Neville suggests Liverpool star should have been booked for Chelsea theatrics

Sky Sports pundit believes striker should have been booked .

The Reds returned to action on Sunday following the international break , with a Mohamed Salah penalty and a second half Curtis Jones strike seeing Arne Slot's past the Blues at Anfield. While the start of the second half was frantic after Chelsea equalised through Nicolas Jackson, Liverpool soon re-took the lead through Jones.

And from there, the fast start petered out, only for tensions to re-ignite when Benoit Badiashile and Nunez came together. The Uruguayan striker went through the back of the French defender, which prompted Badiashile to confront Nunez.

Badiashile then bumped into Nunez with his chest, prompting the latter to hit the deck, much to Neville's frustration. Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville could be heard saying: "Get up!"

He then added: "Badiashile just puts his chest towards him and he goes down like that." Then Nunez went to chase after Badiashile, which led to Neville saying: "He should have been booked for falling to the ground! He defends well, backtracks and works hard but he has to be more careful!

Nunez did end up being booked following the incident while Badiashile escaped a caution. However, in the end, it did not matter, especially after Liverpool won the game 2-1 to return to the top of the table.

While Manchester City managed to secure a dramatic late 2-1 win over Wolves to keep pace with Liverpool, Arsenal lost to Bournemouth on Saturday night, in a game that saw William Saliba sent off. The Frenchman will now miss next weekend's tie against Liverpool, as well as games against Newcastle United and Chelsea.

Liverpool.com says: "Honestly, Neville was probably right. Nunez's initial challenge on Badiashile was a pretty late one with the Chelsea defender going nowhere. That said, he didn't need to square up to Nunez either. Probably a fair outcome that Nunez got booked though."
