'There is no blame' - Danny Welbeck responds after Brighton's nightmare mistake

Danny Welbeck claims must stick together - insisting "exceptional" Mats Wieffer was not to blame for Albion's late collapse against .

The Dutch defensive midfielder, who was a second-half substitute, wasted a glorious counter-attack and the chance to put the Seagulls out of sight on Saturday but fluffed his lines in stoppage time.

said: "This stuff happens in football. When you are in that position, you don't expect to be counter-attacked on. It happened and there is no blame on him, we take it as a team.

"Everybody has got to be together. We stick together through the highs and the lows. He is an exceptional player and I'm sure he will make a big impact for us in future games."

The 33-year-old forward, who broke the deadlock before being replaced by fellow goalscorer Evan Ferguson, feels proved they lack maturity.

He added: "We need to develop the experience, and you do get the experience from going through these difficult situations."

On a personal note, Welbeck was pleased to return to action with a bang after he was stretchered off at last weekend with a back injury. The striker explained: "I'm feeling good. I'm feeling fit and strong.

"The injury last week was a painful one, it hit me in the nerve and just shot off a feeling into my leg but I recovered throughout the week thanks to the medical staff, who are top drawer.

"It was nice to get the goal but it's hard to be happy today."
