1. Changes in the bank nomination process. Changes in the bank nomination process
From November 1, 2025, banks will implement new nomination rules for deposit accounts, safety lockers, and safe custody items. The Finance Ministry has confirmed that the provisions of Sections 10 to 13 of the Banking Laws (Amendment) Act, 2025, will come into effect from that date.

2. New FASTag Rules 2025
FASTags for vehicles that have not completed the required Know Your Vehicle (KYV) verification process may be deactivated. However, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has simplified the process and is offering a grace period with reminders from issuing banks to ensure compliance without immediately suspending service. A revised fee structure for vehicles without a valid, functional FASTag will be applicable from November 15, 2025, instead of November 1. Drivers making payments using UPI or other approved digital methods will be charged 1.25 times the standard toll fee.

3. Rules for Updating Aadhaar Cards
Effective today, the rules for updating Aadhaar cards have changed. Effective November 1st, UIDAI has waived the ₹125 biometric fee for updating children's Aadhaar cards for one year. Children aged 5 to 15 will no longer be charged for updating their Aadhaar biometric information. However, adults will still have to pay a fee to update their Aadhaar. ₹75 will be charged for changing their name, address, or mobile number, and ₹125 for updating their fingerprint/iris scan.

4. Important Changes to GST
New Goods and Services Tax (GST) registrations began today, November 1, 2025, and a new, simplified system has been introduced that provides automatic approval within three working days for most new applicants.

As per the GST Council's decision, a new tax structure has come into effect from November 1. Previously, there were four rates: 5%, 12%, 18%, and 28%. However, the 12% and 28% slabs have now been removed. In their place, the government has implemented a new special GST slab of 40% on luxury and harmful products. This will affect automobiles, alcohol, tobacco, high-end gadgets, and some imported products. The 5% and 18% GST rates will continue on low-priced essential goods.

5. Life Certificate for Pensioners
All central and state government pensioners must submit their annual life certificate (Jeevan Pramaan) between November 1, 2025, and November 30, 2025, to continue receiving their monthly pension without interruption. This annual process provides proof that the pensioner is alive and eligible to receive pension payments. Those aged 80 and above have already been allowed to submit their certificates starting October 1.
