Citroen India has launched a new CNG kit for the C3 hatchback. The Citroën C3 CNG comes equipped with a dealer-level CNG kit, priced at Rs 93,000 more than the corresponding petrol variant. With this addition, the starting price of the C3 CNG is Rs 7.16 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered across four variants—Live, Feel, Feel(O), and Shine—priced between Rs 7.16 lakh and Rs 9.24 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is offering a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty on the CNG components, the same as on the standard C3. Interested customers can visit their nearest Citroën dealership to get the retrofitment done.
Talking about the engine first, the Citroen C3 CNG kit can be paired only to the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine which produces 82 hp and 115 Nm when running on petrol. While Citroën has not disclosed the power and torque figures for CNG mode, as is common with CNG-powered vehicles, the power and torque figures for the C3 CNG are expected to be slightly reduced compared to its petrol counterparts. It claims an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 28.1km/kg and is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Additionally, Citroën states that the rear suspension has been upgraded to maintain the same ride quality as the standard petrol version. Citroën India has partnered with Lovato for the supply and installation of CNG kits in the C3 hatchback through its dealerships. The kit features a single CNG cylinder with a water-equivalent capacity of 55 litres. According to the brand, a full tank offers a driving range of approximately 170 to 200 kilometres.
In terms of features, the CNG C3 will continue to get 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a 7.0-inch full-digital instrument cluster display, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs, a rear parking camera, day/night IRVM, 15-inch diamond cut alloys, fog lights, rear wiper and washer, rear skid plates, a rear defogger. It also gets six airbags as standard and it continues to get other safety features such as Electronic Stability Program (ESP), TPMS, hill hold assist, ABS, EBD, and rear parking sensors.
