During the operation, the terrorists opened heavy fire, which led to a fierce exchange of gunfire, ultimately resulting in the death of three hard-core LeT militants. A large cache of weapons, including rifles, grenades, and ammunition, was recovered from the site, along with personal items such as backpacks and wallets belonging to the terrorists.

The three terrorists were identified as members of LeT, including Shahid Kuttay, a notorious commander. Shahid Kuttay, who joined the terrorist group in 2023, was classified as a Category A terrorist and played a key role in LeT’s operations in Kashmir. His death, along with that of his associates, dealt a severe blow to the terror group’s leadership in the region. The identities of the other two terrorists, identified as Adnan Shafi and one unnamed terrorist, are still being verified.

Operation Keller’s success comes on the heels of India’s Operation Sindoor, launched earlier in May, which aims to target terrorism backed by Pakistan. Shahid Kuttay’s killing in the operation is particularly significant given his involvement in the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 individuals, mostly tourists. Just days after the attack, authorities had demolished Shahid Kuttay’s residence as part of punitive action. His role in such high-profile attacks underlines the importance of Operation Keller in dismantling terrorist leadership in Jammu and Kashmir.
