Soothravakyam - Lionsgate Play

The Malayalam drama-thriller Soothravakyam is all set for its digital debut on Lionsgate Play after a theatrical run. Set in the town of Palakkad, the film revolves around a police officer Christo Xavier, played by Shine Tom Chacko, who not only serves in uniform but also teaches free math classes to students in his community. His routine life is upended when a mysterious disappearance pulls him into a deeper investigation involving Arya and her family. The film also features Vincy Aloshious, Deepak Parambol, and Binoj Villya in key roles. At its core, the story explores themes of family, the challenges faced by youth, and the quest for truth amidst personal and social tensions. The film will start streaming from August 21.

Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse - Amazon Prime Video

Gautham Vasudev Menon makes his Malayalam directorial debut with Dominic and The Ladies Purse, a mystery drama led by Mammootty, who also produced the film under his banner, Mammootty Kampany. The story follows Dominic, a retired police officer-turned-private investigator, who takes on the seemingly simple job of returning a lost handbag in exchange for rent relief. However, the task quickly spirals into a far more intricate case when the bag’s contents uncover ties to an unresolved disappearance involving two missing individuals. What begins as a minor errand evolves into a gripping journey filled with long-buried secrets and unexpected twists. The film also features strong performances from Gokul Suresh, Sushmita Bhat, Siddique, and Viji Venkatesh in key supporting roles. It will be available on Amazon Prime Video.

Maareesan - Netflix

Maareesan, which hit theatres on July 25, 2025, earned praise for its engaging plot and powerful performances, and is now set to stream on Netflix from August 22. Directed by Sudheesh Sankar and penned by V. Krishna Moorthy, the film comes from the house of Super Good Films, with R. B. Choudary producing and music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The story follows a thief, played by Fahadh Faasil, who goes on a road trip with a man suffering from memory loss. Hoping to exploit the situation to get his hands on a hidden fortune, the thief soon finds himself caught in a web of unexpected twists as the mystery around the amnesiac’s identity deepens. The cast also includes Vadivelu as Velayudham Pillai, Kovai Sarala as Assistant Commissioner Fareeda, Vivek Prasanna in a dual role as Ganesh and Arun, Sithara as Meenakshi, and P. L. Thenappan as Inspector Kanagaraj.


Kothapallilo Okappudu - Aha

This rural satire arrived in theatres in July, is now set to stream on Aha from August 22. Presented by Rana Daggubati, the film marks the directorial debut of Praveena Paruchuri and stars Manoj Chandra as Ramakrishna, a naive yet clever man searching for a dancer for his recording troupe. Along the way, he tries to impress a local girl named Savitri, played by Monika T. However, his efforts lead to a tangled mess of lies, especially as the village becomes consumed by strange superstitions and bizarre rituals, turning his simple plan into utter chaos.

Thalaivan Thalaivii - Amazon Prime Video

Thalaivan Thalaivii, the Tamil romantic-comedy starring Vijay Sethupathi and Nithya Menen, is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 22. Directed by Pandiraj and produced by Sathya Jyothi Films, the film has humour, emotion, and a love for food while exploring modern relationships. The story follows Agasaveeran and Perarasi, a food-loving couple whose bond begins to strain after marriage.
