India cricketer Rinku Singh is set to get engaged to Samajwadi Party MP Priya Saroj on June 8 in Lucknow. The news was confirmed by the politician’s father, Toofani Saroj, on Sunday.
The couple will tie the knot on November 18 this year. The wedding will be a traditional ceremony held at the Hotel Taj in Varanasi. Invitations will reportedly be sent to big names from cricket, Bollywood, politics, and business circles.
Rinku Singh, 27, has represented India in 2 ODIs and 33 T20Is over the past couple of years. He also plays for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Priya Saroj, 26, is a first-time Member of Parliament from the Machhlishahr constituency in Jaunpur.
Priya’s father, Toofani Saroj, who has been a two-time MP from the Samajwadi Party, said the engagement will be a small, private event attended by close family, friends, and relatives.
He also shared that the marriage was fixed with the agreement of both families after meeting in Aligarh.
“Rinku and Priya have known each other for some time. They were introduced through Priya’s friend’s father, who is a cricketer himself. With the blessings of both families, they have decided to get married,” Toofani Saroj told reporters.
