Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A youth was booked for rape and forced religious conversion of a young woman in Pardeshipura police station area, an official said on Sunday.
The woman alleged that her lover and his family members forced her to convert religion and marry him under a false identity. The police are investigating the roles of his family members.
Pardeshipura police station in-charge RD Kanwa said that a case of rape, forced religious conversion, and death threats has been registered against Sohil Rajput, alias Sohil Khan. The police are probing the role of his family members and other people in the case, added Kanwa.

He expressed his wish to marry her, and she agreed believing his name was Sohil Rajput. He took her to Ahmedabad where he made physical relations with her.
Later, she came to know about his real identity. She alleged that he and the family pressured her to marry after converting her religion, reciting the Kalma.
The police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of BNS, Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 2021 and further investigation is underway.
