The Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is currently conducting raids at more than 15 locations across Mumbai, Thane, Bhiwandi, and several other parts of Maharashtra.
Saquib Nachan, also known as Raveesh, Saquib, or Khalid, was arrested in 2023 by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the ISIS Maharashtra terror module case.
According to the NIA investigation, Nachan is one of the main accused and is referred to as the Amir-e-Hind for ISIS in the country.
The investigation revealed that Nachan was involved in preparing for terrorist attacks, including recruiting vulnerable youth into the terror organization.
Sources said that several accused in the ISIS terror module case had taken bayath (a pledge of allegiance) from Saquib Nachan, alias Amir-e-Hind. He, in turn, had given bayath to other accused individuals, as part of a broader conspiracy to spread terror and unrest. The accused collectively conspired to endanger the safety and security of India, undermine its secular ethos and culture, and disrupt its democratic system of governance.
