Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shankar Bhikaji Solase, 56, of the Vikhroli Traffic Division, tragically died by suicide on the morning of July 13. He reportedly hanged himself at his residence in Shivraj Society, Varsanagar, Parksite (West), seemingly overwhelmed by a prolonged illness. The Parksite Police have registered a case of accidental death and are currently investigating.
According to the police, ASI Solase lived with his wife, Ranjana, 48. On the night of July 12, they had dinner and went to sleep as usual, with Solase sleeping on the ground floor and Ranjana on the mezzanine level of their home. The next morning at 8:30 AM, Ranjana woke up to find ASI Solase hanging from the iron staircase inside their house, using a saree.

The Parksite police immediately rushed him to the Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead upon arrival. His body has been sent for post-mortem examination as part of the ongoing inquiry.
The Police's preliminary assessment suggests that ASI Solase had undergone leg surgery about a year and a half ago following an accident and had been suffering from ongoing complications. It is suspected that the distress from this prolonged health issue may have driven him to take this extreme step.
