Lucknow: In a high-level review meeting of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the need for compassionate yet vigilant governance in schools and institutions serving Divyang (differently-abled) youth.

Emphasizing student safety and dignity, the CM directed a comprehensive audit of all Divyang educational and care centers, urging tight screening before allowing any third-party involvement.

He instructed that vacant teaching posts be filled urgently. As an interim measure, qualified youth may be engaged and given weightage in future recruitments. The CM highlighted the importance of regular health monitoring of 214 children under the Cochlear Implant Scheme and emphasized early intervention.

The CM urged MPs and MLAs to support the Motorized Tricycle Scheme, which has already benefited 270 severely disabled citizens. He also noted that free bus travel benefited 31 lakh Divyang passengers last year.

The government has also registered over 15 lakh Divyangjans on the UDID portal and will establish rehabilitation centers in all 18 divisional HQs.

New skill-based courses will be introduced at Shakuntala Mishra and Rambhadracharya universities, with a push for national-level outreach. The CM underscored that all welfare schemes must be transparent, timely, and corruption-free.
