New Zealand's legendary batsman Kane Williamson has joined the Lucknow Super Giants. He will serve as the Lucknow team's strategic advisor in IPL 2026. The LSG team finished seventh in the points table last year, and with Williamson at the helm, the Lucknow team will look to improve on its previous performance. It's worth noting that Rishabh Pant, the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history, is the captain of this team, having been acquired by LSG for ₹27 crore.
LSG team owner Sanjiv Goenka also shared via X (formerly Twitter) that Kane Williamson has been a part of the LSG franchise in the past and congratulated him on his new role. His leadership, cricketing community, and ability to motivate players will be beneficial to the team.
In addition to Kane Williamson, Daniel Crowe has been appointed as the spin bowling coach. Williamson and Daniel will now work closely with LSG head coach Justin Langer. Former Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun is also associated with the team as a bowling coach. It's worth noting that Zaheer Khan, who mentored the Lucknow team last season, has left LSG.

Kane Williamson is still playing international cricket and has scored 19,086 runs in his 371-match international career. In his 79-match IPL career, he has scored 2,128 runs, including 18 half-centuries.
