Varuthini Ekadashi 2025: Happiness and prosperity resides in the house of the person who observes Ekadashi fast and his sins committed unknowingly are destroyed. According to the scriptures, the life of the person who observes the fast of Varuthini Ekadashi gets freedom from all the troubles and moves towards a happy life. In the end, he gets salvation. This year Varuthini Ekadashi is on 24 April 2025. On this day, the worship of Shri Hari is considered incomplete without reciting the fast story.

Varuthini Ekadashi story

In ancient times, a king named Mandhata ruled on the banks of the Narmada river. He was very charitable and an ascetic. One day, when he was doing penance in the forest, a wild bear came from nowhere and started chewing the king's leg. The king remained engrossed in his penance. After some time, the bear dragged the king to the nearby forest.

The king was very scared but instead of getting angry and violent, he prayed to Lord Vishnu. He called Lord Vishnu with a compassionate heart and requested him to save his life. Hearing his cry, Lord Vishnu appeared and killed the bear with his Chakra.

The bear had bitten the king's leg. Seeing him sad, Lord Vishnu said: O son! Do not grieve. You go to Mathura and keep a fast on Varuthini Ekadashi and worship my Varaha avatar idol. Due to its effect, you will again have strong limbs. Whatever happened was the sin of your previous birth. King Mandhata observed the fast by obeying the Lord's command. Due to its effect, the king soon again became beautiful and had complete limbs. Due to the effect of this Ekadashi, King Mandhata also attained salvation.
