Recently another case related to digital rape has come to light from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. In this case, the victim is a 4-year-old girl studying in school. Let us tell you, this case is from Thana 39 area of Noida. The 4-year-old girl used to study in a private school in Sector 37 under this police station, where this incident happened with her. The girl's mother alleges that a heinous crime like digital rape has happened with the girl in the school bathroom. This is not the first case in Noida. A case came in 2019 too

Earlier, a similar case happened in Noida on 21 January 2019. The accused in this case was Akbar Ali, who was 65 years old. According to the police, Ali was a resident of West Bengal and had come to Noida to meet his daughter. Here he called a 3-year-old girl living next to his daughter's house on the pretext of giving her a toffee and digitally raped her. Akbar Ali was also sentenced in this case.

What is digital rape?

If you think that digital rape means watching online porn or committing an online crime, then you are wrong. Actually, digital rape means when the accused sexually assaults the victim with his hands or toes. This law came after the Nirbhaya case. This law was recognized in the year 2013. According to this, forced penetration with the finger or thumb of the hand was considered a sexual crime and was placed in the category of Section 375 and POCSO Act.

What is the punishment

In the case that came to light in the year 2019, the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment by the District Court of Gautam Buddha Nagar. Apart from this, a fine of Rs 50000 was also imposed on him. Actually, in this case most of the victims are girls, so action is taken against the accused under the POCSO Act. In the POCSO Act, there is a provision of punishment ranging from 20 years to life imprisonment depending on the severity of the crime. On the other hand, if the victim dies, then the accused can also be sentenced to death.
