Reports of the issue began surfacing just before midday, around 11:50am, and have steadily increased. By 1pm, more than 300 people had flagged problems with streaming content on the platform, with many saying the error code appears whenever they try to play a programme.
Several disappointed BBC viewers flocked to X, formerly known as to share their frustrations. One complained: "What the heck is going on with BBC iPlayer? I need to catch up on ." Another echoed: "Ugh there always seems to be something wrong with iPlayer whenever I actually have time to catch up on my shows."
Someone else questioned: "What’s happened with iPlayer in the last few minutes? It suddenly stopped playing on the tv with error code 34074." While another asked for help by saying: "Is the iPlayer down. I can get in so far then each programme I click on say error code 34074 it does say the iPlayer will look a little different today but no programmes??"
