As we prepare for the final day match-ups at this year's Ryder Cup, some will already be looking ahead to the 2027 edition. The competition alternates between Europe and the United States, meaning America's players will need to travel across the Atlantic next time out.
The last four Ryder Cups to be held in Europe have taken place - in reverse order - in Italy, France, Scotland and Wales. Team Europe won on each of those occasions, and you have to go back to 1993 to find the last American win on European soil.
In 2027, Ireland will host for the first time since 2006. Adare Manor was chosen as the upcoming venue all the way back in 2019, with the event initially slated for 2026 before the Covid-19 pandemic saw the Ryder Cup return to odd-numbered years.
The course, in County Limerick, hosted the Irish Open back in 2007 and 2008. It has also been the venue for the J.P. McManus Pro-Am on three occasions - most recently in 2022, when Xander Schauffele edged out fellow American star Sam Burns.
When Ireland last hosted the Ryder Cup, the K Club in County Kildare was the venue. Europe won 18.5-9.5 on that occasion, with Ian Woosnam captaining the European team to victory.

The 2027 edition will run from September 13-19, with the first four days devoted to build-up. The match action itself runs, as is tradition, between the Friday and the Sunday.
Adare Manor sent a group of staff to Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in 2023 to watch Europe's victory over Team USA. "This is like three Champions League finals, three days in a row," Adare's golf course superintendent Alan MacDonnell said, insisting he and his colleagues would be "ready for it".
That 2023 competition was one-way traffic, with Team Europe racing into a 4-0 lead early on. For the first time in Ryder Cup history, Team USA failed to win a single match across the first day's play, while the spoils were shared on both Saturday and Sunday as Europe held onto their advantage.
"I really can’t believe that we would out-prepare the American team and they weren’t going to out-prepare us," Justin Rose said. "Obviously, something clicked for us. There was just a feeling we had as a group that was very strong, a certain unspoken energy.
"We bonded incredibly well. And I believe we wanted it more," added Rose, who made his first Ryder Cup appearances back in 2008 and is also part of Europe's 2025 selection for the weekend at Bethpage Black Course. "Nothing will ever be better than 2012 at Medinah, but, yeah, there was a similar sense of purpose and sense of optimism."
