Netflix AI Show: Netflix has introduced its first show made with artificial intelligence, 'The Eternal'. The company's co-CEO Ted Sarandos has expressed happiness over the use of this technology. AI has helped in reducing costs in this Argentine production show.
Artificial Intelligence: The use of Artificial Intelligence is increasing day by day. It was created to make the user's work easier and now it is being used in many fields. After studies and treatment of diseases, AI is now being used in film production. In fact, Netflix has launched its first show that has been created using Generative AI (Artificial Intelligence). The company's co-CEO Ted Sarandos said that he is very happy with its results. The company has used this technology to reduce costs in an Argentine production show "The Eternaut", which is based on a science fiction comic.
AI demolished the building, cost reducedSarandos said that "The Eternal" is the first Netflix show to include shots created entirely by AI in the final footage. This includes a sequence of a building collapsing in Buenos Aires. According to Sarandos, for a production like "The Eternal" , creating such effects without AI would have been costly.
What did Ted Sarandos say on the use of AI"That VFX (visual effects) sequence was actually completed 10 times faster than using traditional VFX tools and methods. The creators were very happy with the results. We were very happy with the results and more importantly, the audience was very happy with the results. So I think these tools are helping creators expand the storytelling possibilities on screen and that's very exciting," Sarandos told analysts.
This is not the first time this happenedThis isn't the first time Netflix has turned to AI for production. Sarandos previously highlighted the company's use of AI in Rodrigo Prieto's film Pedro Páramo. He explained how it significantly reduced the cost of de-aging effects, especially compared to the much more expensive method used in Martin Scorsese's The Irishman. In April, Sarandos said that "basically the entire budget of the film was equal to the VFX cost of 'The Irishman.'"
The future of AI in HollywoodDespite this, the use of AI in Hollywood remains a complex topic. Concerns about its use played a major role in the actors' and writers' strikes in 2023, which halted production for some time. Viewers also criticized Marvel Studios for using AI-made credit art in Secret Invasion on Disney+. At the same time, filmmaker Tyler Perry said that he postponed expanding his studio due to the cap
