Bhubaneswar: A 10-year-old boy allegedly hanged himself to death at home in Odisha’s Keonjhar district after his mother refused to give him the mobile phone.
The incident took place at Poipani village under Dhenkikote police limits on Saturday.
According to sources, the boy, who studied in a private residential school in Keonjhar town, had come home on Dussehra vacation. He had a fight with his mother over her mobile phone on Saturday morning. When she went to the forest to collect mushrooms, the boy used a rope to hang himself in the house.
His grandmother, who was washing utensils, found him hanging around 4.30 pm. She raised an alarm and neighbours soon rushed the boy to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital but he died on the way.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death and handed over the body to the family after postmortem.
