Comedy duo Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont have left fans reeling after announcing their separation following nine years of marriage. The pair also decided to conclude their hit comedy show, Meet the Richardsons, last year. The couple, who tied the knot in April 2015 and are parents to eight year old daughter Elsie, released a joint statement regarding their break-up, saying: "We have jointly and amicably made the difficult decision to divorce and go our separate ways."
Highlighting their child's wellbeing, they appealed for privacy: "As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being. We will be making no further comment. Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont."
By September, it was revealed that a financial agreement had been finalised in their divorce proceedings. Jon handed over a staggering £1.625million to Lucy as part of the settlement. After nine years of prosperity, the entertainers had accumulated a combined net worth of £6million.
Just two months after their split, Jon transferred his substantial payment to Lucy for her share of their co-owned enterprise, reports the Mirror. Additionally, the agreement required Jon to pay HMRC a further £8,125 in stamp duty when purchasing Lucy's stake in This Guy at Night Limited.
Despite the alterations, the company continues to be worth a hefty £4million according to recent documentation filed at Companies House. Despite their split, Jon and Lucy continued to jointly own a £1million detached property in Yorkshire complete with swimming pool alongside a luxurious North London flat worth the same amount throughout the autumn months.
In a shocking turn of events, Jon has revealed his exit from comedy despite boasting an exceptional career record.
Speaking to his social media followers, he revealed: "I just thought I'd give you a little update. I don't really do social media updates, and I'll tell you why - because I don't think anyone cares."
He added: "But I have a little bit of news. I've obviously been taking a little bit of a break from stand-up and it's really made me... want to carry on taking a break from stand-up."

Jon also disclosed reflections about a pivotal diary entry from 1997: "I've been thinking a lot about a diary entry that I found from 1997."
Subsequently, he revealed an extract, explaining: "It's this one. I was 14 years old, it says although I would love to be a stand-up comedian, I'll probably end up being a teacher. And I've been thinking a lot about that."
Concluding with a bombshell announcement, Jon declared: "I've loved being a comedian, it was absolutely the right choice. But I've decided it would've been nice to try the other option, so that's exactly what I'm gonna do."
In a surprising turn of events, he revealed that he had ventured into a fresh career direction, stating: "I've been doing some training, I've taken a teaching position. I will update you as and when I can. but that's all from me for now, just to let you know where I've been. I'll keep you posted."
A further notable twist emerged in October when Lucy was found to have begun a new romance.
Her partner's links to Jon caused quite a stir as the individual proved to be his previous audio technician.
Whilst the duration of Lucy and Martin Wallace's acquaintance remains uncertain, Wallace shares a professional background with Jon, having contributed to his 'Nidiot' live performance, alongside working with other comedic personalities including Dara O Briain and the late Sean Lock.
Lucy was photographed leaving the Lowry Theatre in Salford, with Martin collecting her afterwards.
Despite public curiosity about her private affairs, Lucy has emphasised she has no plans to openly address her former partnership with Jon.
In conversation with OK!, the comedian declared: "People might think I should talk about it because we were so public and everyone knew us as a couple, but I won't, and not because there's any animosity."
The duo have chosen to keep details of their union confidential, with Jon adding: "We both agreed that while it might be weird for other people not hearing anything about it, we wouldn't talk about anything to do with the marriage or each other."
