Manchester United are gearing up for a thrilling Manchester derby as they prepare to lock horns with their city rivals this week. Ruben Amorim's Red Devils will make the short journey to the Etihad Stadium, ready to face off against Pep Guardiola's Manchester City. United are riding high on the wave of a thrilling 3-2 triumph over Burnley last month, just before the season's first international break.
However, Amorim is grappling with several injury worries in the early stages of the new Premier League season. It remains uncertain how many players, if any, will be benched when they square off against City on Sunday. Here's a rundown of their current fitness issues...
Matheus Cunha
Matheus Cunha sustained a hamstring injury during United's victory over Burnley at Old Trafford prior to the international break.
The extent of the injury is still unknown, with Cunha pulling out from the Brazil squad for the World Cup qualifiers this month as a consequence.
Cunha has since dropped hints on social media that his recovery from the injury might not take as long as initially anticipated.
"What an incredible environment, it's great to be here," Cunha posted on Instagram last week.
"I'll be back soon, always with joy and gratitude. Thanks for all the messages."
Potential return date: September 14 vs Man City (A).

Mason Mount
Mason Mount also picked up an injury during United's victory over Burnley. Amorim confirmed after the match that Mount had played for 30 minutes of the game with an injury before being substituted.
"It was tough to lose a player like Cunha and Mason Mount - Mount played like 30 minutes with an injury," Amorim explained. "I don't know [if they are long-term injuries], I don't know, but I'm concerned about that. They are so crucial for us, so we'll see."
Potential return date: September 14 vs Man City (A).
Lisandro Martinez
Lisandro Martinez is in recovery from an ACL injury he sustained last season, having had surgery on the injury back in February.
Since then, the Argentina international has been ramping up his recovery and has returned to training. A return to the matchday squad may not be too far off.
Return date: Unknown.
Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot pulled out of Portugal's squad after suffering from "muscle discomfort" despite featuring against Burnley last time out.
However, due to the nature of his withdrawal, the versatile defender could be back in time to face City.
Potential return date: September 14 vs Man City (A).
