Outlander actor stars in new Black Mirror episode Hotel Reverie that fans will have missed

enthusiasts might have overlooked the cameo of a former cast member in a fresh episode from 's seventh season, which Netflix released just last week. The series, a brainchild of Charlie Brooker, has already been binged by many.

One episode, Hotel Reverie, pays homage to black-and-white Hollywood films and features contemporary Hollywood star Brandy Friday (portrayed by Issa Rae) using cutting-edge technology to enter an old film for a reboot.

The episode boasts a star-studded cast including Awkwafina, Dame Harriet Walter, and The Crown's Emma Corrin as tragic Hollywood starlet Dorothy Chambers/Clara Ryce-Lechere.

As Brandy enters the classic movie Hotel Reverie via AI technology Redream, she soon discovers her co-star Dorothy/Clara is more sentient than anticipated.

In Hotel Reverie, Clara's husband Claude, who repeatedly tries to kill her but fails each time, is played by none other than Outlander's Stanley Weber, known for his role as the enigmatic Comte St. Germain in season two, reports the .

Although the Comte met a gruesome end in Outlander, the show's time-travel element and the character's ability to traverse different eras could potentially allow for a brief return, much like Master Raymond (Dominique Pinon) in season seven.

Since his stint in Outlander, Weber has been involved in a number of significant projects, including Sky's Britannia alongside Yellowstone's Kelly Reilly, Berlin Station, The Runaway, and The Head.

Outlander actors have previously featured in the anthology series Black Mirror, including Tobias Menzies who starred in the eerily prophetic episode The Waldo Moment.

In this episode, he portrayed MP Liam Monroe, who was defeated by the sarcastic animated blue bear, Waldo.

In a grim twist, Waldo ended up ruling the world in what was essentially a popularity contest of an election. The Waldo Moment foresaw the rise of figures like Boris Johnson and Donald Trump.

Andrew Gower, who played Bonnie Prince Charlie in Outlander, appeared in the unsettling episode Crocodile, where he portrayed Rob, a man inadvertently entangled in a hit-and-run murder and its subsequent cover-up.

Crocodile was set in a world where individuals were equipped with Black Mirror's futuristic Grain technology, which recorded everything a person and indeed an animal could see.

Meanwhile, Gregor Firth, known for his role as Kincaid in Outlander, appeared in Black Mirror Loch Henry, which was set in Scotland and followed a pair of documentary-makers investigating a series of cold case murders.
