Rod Stewart drops F-bomb as children 'blindside' him on-stage

was shocked into swearing as he accepted his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2025 American Music Awards. The iconic singer's five children unexpectedly appeared on stage to present him with the award, and he was taken aback by their arrival.

Although the expletive was edited out of the broadcast, Rod reportedly told his kids: "I'm so f****** overwhelmed that you're here." However, that clip that played on screens cut away from the rocker during his speech and aired a shot from the audience holding up their phones to film that star. Instead of beeping the swear words, seemingly opted to just snip out the profanity, resulting in an abrupt return to his speech mid-word.

Rod said he was "absolutely flabbergasted" at his children's attendance because he had no idea that they would be at the ceremony, much less giving him a warm introduction.

His kids, Kimberly, 45, Sean, 44, Ruby, 37, Renee, 32, and Liam, 30, were on stage with him.

Speaking of their heartwarming introduction, he remarked: "I thought you had recorded it earlier!"

The Hot Legs crooner also managed to slip a risque joke about his sprawling family after first becoming a father at just 18 years old.

"I've got eight [kids] all together," Stewart said, before quickly adding: "I didn't have a television."

"That was a little joke," he said sheepishly to chuckles from the audience

Stewart is also father to his eldest daughter Sarah Streeter, 61 and two youngest sons, 19-year-old Alistair and 14-year-old Aiden,

In his speech, the singer continued: "When I started singing in the early '60s, well before all of you lot were here, the reason I got into it [was] because I had this burning ambition to sing."

He listed some of his major musical singing influences, as Muddy Waters and Sam Cooke. "It's all I wanted to do. I didn't want to be rich or famous, and here I am a few years later, picking up this wonderful award," the icon added.

Stewart concluded with a performance of his classic 1988 hit, Forever Young.
