Trainers that tick all the style and comfort boxes can be tricky to discover, but FatFace have played a blinder with their Ivory Iva Runner Trainer. Available in three colourways, ivory, natural and khaki/green, the trainers, which are £29 - down from £65 - could easily be mistaken for New Balance kicks, thanks to their suede patches, leather fabric for comfort, ridged gum sole and use of colour.
The ivory pair particularly pop, with a bright orange heel and blue and turquoise panels that really catch the eye. They're called 'runners' but that doesn't have to mean they're for 10ks.
These would look just as nifty on the school run as a dash around the park. Wear them with cropped jeans or wide-legged trousers for the day, and running leggings for the gym.
There is also a handy price history box on FatFace, so shoppers can also track amounts over the months. FatFace says in May 2025 these trainers were priced at £65, and August 2025 saw them priced at £29 - £35, and also at £23 - £35.
For the real deal, New Balance have their 327 Shoes for £50, in the fancily named 'slate grey with grey matter and dream state' colourway. Ie. pale grey and their classic 'N' branding in a dark blue. Apparently they come up a little small, so always order the size up, but these trainers will stand the test of time and go with practically every outfit.
For an even jazzier pair, try Gola Classics Women's Elan Trainers. They're pricier, costing £90, but come in a huge range of colour ways, from mustard and red, to purple and blue, making them quite collectible. With a real vintage feel, they go great with old denim, or long socks and natty sports shorts.
One customer said of the Ivory runner trainers: "Beautiful trainer. Good quality, as always Fatface does comfortable. Look forward to wear on outside walk." While another said: "The fit is spot on, if you wear a 38, 39, 40 etc... you can choose your size with ease. If you have a wider foot as I do your size will still fit you comfortably. The style is breathable and the shoe is extremely comfortable to wear."
A third said: "Bought these for my daughter... She loves the colours and detail... And a bargain in the sale."
However, one shopper said: "I ordered more than one for choice and although I think these are very good value I already have ones that are similar so went for another option." Another had a hint for sizing, saying: "Very nice and good fit, if anything slightly small fit."
