While travelling abroad is often our first port of call for holidays, there is something to be said about exploring your own country further. While looking at destinations in the Med and further, you might be sleeping on this pretty little island of the UK's, the Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight is located just off the south coast of England, about two miles off Portsmouth and is reachable by ferry or hovercraft - so it is perfect for a staycation. The unique diamond-shaped island is known for its beautiful beaches, Ryde, Sandown, and Shanklin, are the most popular beach locations, known for their golden sands and traditional seaside charm.

The budget-friendly holiday option has been known to rival the Caribbean due to its natural beauty, shimmering bays and staggering cliff shores.
However, if you are looking for a hidden gem, the island offers a remote beach by the name of Rocken End.
You can only access the beach via a narrow and windy path via foot, but the gorgeous views make every step worth it. With no amenities and its secluded location, it is the explorer's dream.
Last year, the Isle of Wight was named the sunniest place in the UK, welcoming more sun than Italy during winter months.
However, it is during summer that the island truly comes alive. The paradise haven offers gorgeous waters, rocky shores and magnificent clifftops.
The island has also recently thrown their annual music festival simply known as the Isle of Wight Festival, with this years' headliners including Justin Timberlake, Stereophonics and Sting.
