'Thickening' spray praised for 'helping with hair loss' and 'boosting confidence'

Hair thinning and shedding can be a knock to anyone's confidence, which is why products that claim to make hair look fuller often spark interest. One styling spray in particular has been winning praise from shoppers who say it not only helps with hair loss but also gives their confidence a much-needed boost.

The Density Thickening Protein Spray 120ml is now available from Philip Kingsley for £40. The spray is designed to give fine hair an instant boost as it helps volumise hair while protecting it against heat damage up to 230 degrees.

The formula also works to strengthen weakened hair, support its internal structure and add a healthy shine. In trials, results showed a noticeable difference as, according to the website, four out of five users said their hair felt stronger, while 91% reported more texture.

This updated version of the spray includes new volumising pea peptides for hydration and smoothness, while still containing the same protein peptides, styling polymers and panthenol that made the original so effective. The result is hair that looks fuller, feels stronger and is easier to style with confidence.

Boots also has the Ouai Hair Thickening Spray 177ml up for grabs, priced at £26 on its website. This spray is also said to transform hair strands to appear thicker and fuller and delivers up to 232 degree heat protection when in use. Another option is Aveda's Thickening Hair Tonic 100ml for £28 from LookFantastic which the brand says is a 'powerful hair treatment that boosts volume and creates a fuller denser appearance for thinning hair.'

The Phillip Kingsley spray has garnered a high 4.5 out of 5 star-rating, however, on its website. One person said: "Makes my fine hair thicker with great volume. Thank you so much for helping with my hair loss - and improving it to look so good. And boosts my confidence a lot." Another wrote: "Really great on my hair has improved the thickness and condition would definitely recommend."

A third reviewer wrote: "Love your Protein Spray - made a big difference to the bounce in my hair. I am a bit old fashioned and back comb and with your spray it holds all day. Brushes out and continues to hold the next day and the next day. Thank you." Not everyone agreed however as one person said: "I don't know if I'm using the product correctly, but I don't feel that it's given me any extra density, however it's not making my hair heavy or greasy." Another wrote: "I've used your products for thinning hair for 10-15 years. I loved your trichopro thickening spray in the blue bottle. This density to me isn't as good."
