Bhubaneswar: Servitors of Suar Mahasuar Nijog, entrusted with the duty of preparing the mahaprasad at Jagannath Temple in Puri, on Friday, wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, seeking the establishment of a Gaushaala at Puri for utilisation of unadulterated desi ghee in the preparation of Mahaprasad. “As you are undoubtedly aware, cows hold a revered place in the hearts of all Hindus, and you have consistently shown your dedication to their welfare through your govt’s policies and personal actions,” wrote Madhusudan Suar of the servitors community. He said recently Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) promulgated an edict mandating the exclusive use of ghee produced by Omfed in the preparation of Mahaprasad. “We ardently wish to convey our opposition to this directive for various reasons,” he said.tnn
