Berhampur: Three persons, including two brothers, were killed in two separate incidents in Ganjam district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as siblings Sanjay Barik (30) and Ajay Barik (27) of Bhalaiajhari near Salabana, and Balaram Gouda (35) of Bramhanapadar.

While the two brothers were allegedly beaten to death by some miscreants at Salabana, Balaram was allegedly killed by his elder brother due to some domestic conflict at Bramhanapadar. Exact motive of murdering Sanjay and Ajay was yet to be ascertained.

After assaulting them with wooden planks, the miscreants dumped bodies of Sanjay and Ajay in a forest near Marei Nuagaon and attempted to set them ablaze to destroy evidence. Acting on a tip-off, police teams from Beguniapada and Khallikote recovered the bodies and sent them for post-mortem to MKCG Medical College, Berhampur.

"We suspect previous enmity might have led to the murder," said SP (Ganjam) Subhendhu Patra.

Sources said Sanjay had gone to Salabana for work and was accosted after an argument. When Ajay rushed to his aid, he too was caught and both were allegedly beaten to death.

"In the Bramhanapadar murder case, police detained two persons, including the elder brother of the deceased," said Rebati Sabar, inspector in-charge, Tarasingh police station.
