Lucknow: Maharashtra delivered a spectacular performance at the 13th National Senior Pencak Silat Championship , clinching the overall championship trophy with a total of 14 medals, including six gold, four silver and four bronze.
Jammu and Kashmir finished as runners-up with 19 medals in total—three gold, six silver and ten bronze. Host state Uttar Pradesh secured third place with 12 medals comprising three gold, three silver and six bronze. In the previous edition, Jammu and Kashmir were champions while Maharashtra were runners-up.
The championship was organized under the aegis of the Indian Pencak Silat Federation by the Pencak Silat Sports Association of Uttar Pradesh at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Multipurpose Hall in K.D. Singh Babu Stadium.
At the closing ceremony, UP Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and state minister for sports and youth welfare (independent) Girish Chandra Yadav honored the winning and runner-up teams as well as other medalists.
