Silchar: A speeding dumper collided head-on with a passenger-laden SUV on the Patharkandi bypass road of National Highway-8 on Wednesday night, leaving five people, including a child, seriously injured.
The impact of the crash completely crushed the front portion of the SUV. The driver sustained severe injuries but survived due to the airbag deployment. The four other passengers also suffered injuries and are currently receiving treatment at Sribhumi Civil Hospital.
According to locals, the SUV was heading toward Lowairpoa, while the dumper was en route to Sribhumi when the accident occurred. All the injured individuals are residents of Tukurbazar village in Patharkandi.
Following the incident, police launched an investigation and took both vehicles into custody.
