Known to millions as Rohit Poddar from Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Romiit Raaj has long been a familiar face on Indian television. But behind the charming on-screen persona lies a journey marked by relentless dedication, long hours, and a burning passion for acting.
Reflecting on one of the most challenging phases of his career, Romiit shares, “The biggest challenge I faced in my career was doing two shows at the same time for three years as the lead. I played a negative role in ‘Betiyan’ and a positive one in ‘Maayka’, both on Zee TV and both produced by Creative Eye.”
Managing back-to-back shoots for 16 to 18 hours a day, Romiit had to constantly switch emotional gears. “It was creatively exhausting but also deeply fulfilling,” he says. “To play two contrasting characters every day required mental discipline, sharp focus, and genuine love for the craft.”
Romiit’s commitment to acting is unwavering. “I love acting and I am very passionate about it. I don’t think of giving up at all,” he states emphatically. “Facing the camera was the best decision of my life.”
When not working on a project, Romiit keeps himself prepared. “I work on myself when I have no work. I do acting workshops, meditate, chant regularly, and of course, work out in the gym. This way, you remain consistent,” he explains.
So, what keeps him going through the highs and lows of the industry? “The fire in the belly keeps me motivated. There’s a lot to achieve and a lot to entertain. When roles don’t come my way, I don’t give up—I work harder for the next audition.”
His spiritual approach to life is grounded in faith and destiny. “I believe in ‘Mann ka ho toh achha, nahi ho toh aur bhi achha.’ Whatever role I’m destined to play, that’s the role I’ll always get—no matter what.”
Romiit Raaj’s story is one of resilience, optimism, and undying love for the art of acting.
