NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant 's nightmare run in IPL 2025 hit a new low on Monday as his Lucknow Super Giants were knocked out of playoff contention following a loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad .

The under-fire captain, who promoted himself to No. 3 in the do-or-die clash, managed just 7 runs off 6 balls before falling to a sharp return catch by Eshan Malinga . With just 135 runs from 12 games at an average of 12.27 and a strike rate of 100, Pant is staring at his worst IPL season yet.

Amid mounting criticism, former India cricketer and coach Yograj Singh has come out in support of the struggling star. In an interview with IANS, Yograj identified technical flaws in Pant's batting — notably his unsteady head and an opening left shoulder — and said these issues could be corrected almost instantly.

Who's that IPL player?

“Rishabh Pant's problem can be fixed in just five minutes. His head isn't steady, and his left shoulder is opening up too much. With a bit of focused correction, he'll be back to his best in no time,” said Yograj, father of former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh .

Pant, speaking after LSG's six-wicket defeat, blamed injuries to key bowlers like Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav for their disappointing season. Despite the setbacks, he stressed the team's fighting spirit and highlighted their strong batting depth as a major positive heading into the future.
