Instead, he offered a trio of intriguing possibilities on his Footbahlin podcast, joined by Pat McAfee.


“I have a new theory after my last theory went viral… I think either he’s going to wait, cuz what are you waiting for? You are waiting for the Pat McAfee Show Wednesday night or you’re waiting for the Draft to see if they’re going to draft a quarterback. Maybe he doesn’t want to be here if they are bringing a guy in,” Roethlisberger said.

With buzz growing around the Steelers possibly targeting Shedeur Sanders with their No. 21 pick, Rodgers may be gauging how serious the team is about investing in a rookie quarterback. That decision could determine whether the franchise envisions Rodgers as a short-term mentor or a full-fledged starter.

Roethlisberger’s third theory hints at something even more strategic. “I think there might be a wild card team out there… Maybe there is a quarterback out there who has a subtle injury that people doesn’t know about. Maybe he’s waiting for that.”

This potential surprise suitor could explain Aaron Rodgers’ patience — waiting for an opening due to an unforeseen QB injury in a contender that needs a veteran leader.
