BIJNOR: A 14-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his own cousin and four friends after a staged kidnapping for ransom plan went horribly wrong. Victim Ayush Singh , a Class 7 student from Husainpur Kala village of Bijnor district, was also part of the plot, and he was to get Rs 2 lakh of the Rs 5 lakh that they planned to extort from his father.
"As per the plan, Ayush was abducted on May 6. But he chickened out and refused to cooperate. Fearing that the plot would be exposed, his cousin Aniket Singh, 19, along with friends Anmol, Akash, Nakul and Umesh, killed him and buried the body in a field," said Bijnor SP Abhishek Jha.
On May 7, Ayush's father, Deepak Kumar, a farmer, filed a missing complaint. On Thursday, the family received a ransom message via Instagram demanding Rs 5 lakh. Later that night, a police tip-off revealed the boy was already murdered and the body was buried in a forest area in Imalia village.
When police reached the spot, the accused opened fire. Police retaliated and Aniket was shot in the leg. All five accused were arrested. A bullet also struck the jacket of the station in-charge during the firing. During interrogation, Aniket confessed to have devised the plot and also admitted that he murdered Ayush. "All the arrested youths are under 22 years. Police exhumed the body and sent it for postmortem examination," Jha said.
