Bharatiya Janata Party 's spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala on Friday expressed his concerns about the deteriorating air quality in Delhi and said that the the national capital has become a gas chamber and poisonous air is everywhere.
In a self-made video, Poonawala criticised the Aam Aadmi Party for their ongoing blame game instead of taking responsibility for the internal factors contributing to Delhi's pollution.
the BJP spokesperson said, "News has come that CJI (Dy Chandrachud) has stopped his morning walk due to the spike in air pollution. Delhi has become a gas chamber and poisonous air is everywhere. You cannot even roam around without a mask."
"AAP is still busy in their blame game, Earlier, they used to blame Punjab. Now, they are blaming firecrackers and states like UP and Haryana, Possibly, they might even blame Isarel and Lebanon for all of this. They will never take responsibility and talk about what they have done for the internal reasons of the pollution in Delhi . The smog towers are also closed. Our citizens here are suffering because of them," he said.
He recalled Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud's statement over the Delhi's air pollution where he said that he had to discontinue his morning walks due to the high levels of pollution in the city.
On Friday, Delhi was shrouded in a layer of smog, with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 283 at 8 am The AQI readings at various locations in the city were as follows: 218 at Anand Vihar, 245 at Punjabi Bagh, 276 at India Gate, and 288 at Jhilmil Industrial area.
During an informal interaction with journalists at the Supreme Court on October 24, Chandrachud expressed his worries about the increasing pollution levels in Delhi. He mentioned that his doctor had advised him to refrain from morning walks due to the poor air quality, which could potentially cause respiratory problems.
