New Delhi: Close to 50 flights have received bomb threats so far on Tuesday, with the menace only getting worse by the day. Officials across airlines say the trend of threats is changing with different handles targeting different airlines in past 2-3 days. Earlier the same handle would issue same number of threats to multiple airlines and now different handles send threats for different numberer different airlines. Govt says it is working to severely punish those sending such threats.
IndiGo on Tuesday afternoon said 10 of its flights had got threats. At least three of them — Bengaluru-Jeddah (6E 77) was diverted to Doha, Kozhikode-Jeddah (6E 65) to Riyadh and Delhi-Jeddah (6E 63) to Medina. “The aircraft was isolated, and all passengers were safely disembarked. Ensuring the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations. We are working closely with the relevant authorities, and mandated checks are currently underway. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused our customers and appreciate their understanding,” IndiGo statements for these flights said.
AI’s Delhi-New York; Akasa’s Bangalore-Varanasi were among the flights getting these threats at the time of filing this story.

Air India said it got 10 threats on Monday-Tuesday night. “We confirm that some Air India flights operating on October 21, 2024 were subject to hoax security threats received on social media. Following the laid down protocols, relevant authorities were immediately alerted, and all security procedures strictly adhered to, as per guidance from the regulatory authorities and security agencies. All the flights have landed safely. The safety and security of our passengers, crew, and aircraft remain our top priority,” said AI.
