BENGALURU: The Indian Institute of Science (IISc) community gathered on Friday night to mourn the victims of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
The condolence meeting took place at the institute's Main Building at 9.15pm Friday, with approximately 700 students, faculty, alumni, and staff in attendance.
The gathering began with a two-minute silence in memory of the deceased, offering a moment of collective reflection and solidarity. Students then lit candles while maintaining a respectful atmosphere, demonstrating support for the grieving families.
The vigil was organised by IISc students to express the institute's sorrow and condemn the act of terrorism that claimed innocent lives. Attendees shared a sense of unity in the face of tragedy.
The evening concluded with the singing of the national anthem . “The candle flames symbolised hope, resilience, and the spirit of a nation standing together in mourning,” a statement released Saturday read.
The event served both as a tribute to the victims and as a statement against violence.
