Kochi: City police launched a comprehensive investigation into the call records and financial transactions of actor Shine Tom Chacko in connection with a recent drug case.
According to officials, the actor's further interrogation will take place only after a detailed examination of these records to assess his level of involvement.
Incidentally, as per reports, police intensified their search for a suspected drug supplier from Malappuram, believed to have links with persons in the film industry. Investigators are probing whether the supplier played a role in the case and are also examining connections with other known drug networks.
Chacko was arrested on Saturday after fleeing from a hotel room in Kochi during a narcotics raid conducted on Wednesday night. He was later released on bail. He faces bailable charges under Section 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempting to destroy evidence, and Sections 27(b) and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for drug consumption and criminal conspiracy.
