Delonte West, a former NBA player, was taken into custody on November 3 in Fairfax County after police responded to a call for an unconscious man. The news was first reported by TMZ Sports. The authorities reportedly discovered him breathing but extremely drunk. When police reached the scene at Fair Haven Avenue and Richmond Highway, they found out that the man was West.
It happened just months after he was detained in June 2024 for allegedly breaking release conditions and resisting arrest. Additionally, it was nearly precisely a year after the same department detained him for trespassing in November 2024.
Former NBA guard Delonte West faces another troubling turn as a late-night incident leads to his recent arrest
On November 3, Delonte West was taken into custody in Fairfax County, Virginia, following a call regarding an unconscious guy. The former basketball player has a number of legal problems, the most recent of which is the arrest.
Officers from the Fairfax County Police Department and emergency medical workers responded to a report that a man was unconscious and not breathing. They then arrived at the scene near Fair Haven Avenue and Richmond Highway.
According to police, West refused an officer's offer to take him to the hospital. Additionally, he was so drunk that he was placed under arrest for his own protection. Since then, West has been released on bond, and it is now unknown whether he will be charged officially.
The NBA community and past associates have made multiple attempts to help West, who has been candid about his battle with bipolar disorder. In 2020, Dallas Mavericks' former primary owner Mark Cuban personally picked up West at a petrol station and covered the cost of his treatment at a drug rehab center in Florida.
West has continued to relapse even after entering the facility and obtaining a temporary job there. The limited success of these initiatives has reportedly frustrated Cuban and others close to the former star. Meanwhile, West continues to struggle with long-term stability despite repeated attempts by the NBA and his former colleagues' offer of financial and supportive assistance.
On the other hand, as of now neither West, nor his representatives have said anything about the whole situation.
