The killing of Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner in a crazed shooting by Shane Tamura at Park Avenue office in Manhattan Monday evening leaves many questions about the shooting unanswered. LePatner was one of the five people killed in the shooting that included an NYPD officer. Tamura was also found dead at the site.
The office building where Shane Tamura opened fire randomly houses many offices making it initially unclear whether it was a targeted killing or a random one. The shooter had a mental condition as well and a there was note found on him in which NFL was blamed for his brain condition.
Tamura was suffering from chronic traumatic encephalopathy which often times is often caused by head trauma, possible in sports like football. But Tamura did not play football professionally.
Evidence pointed to the NFL office as the possible target but after Jewish Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner was identified as a victim, the case took a different turn as many social media theorists claimed that it was an anti semitic attack, made to look like a random attack with NFL appearing like a missed target.
NFL or Wesley LePatner: Who was the target of NYC shooting ?
NYC mayor Eric Adams said Tamura intended to target the NFL headquarters but took the wrong elevator and went to the 33rd floor to Rudin Management, which owns the building. He shot and killed one person there. Wesley Patner was said to be caught in the crossfire but for many commentators, this is not a convincing explanation as to why a senior Blackstone executive was killed.
"Wesley LePatner wasn’t just another real estate executive. She controlled billions in capital flows, strategic asset classes, and sensitive data involving real estate-backed securities, which are known laundering channels for sovereign wealth, off-ledger assets, and covert financial networks," one wrote on X, claiming that probably she was the target.
The NFL offices are on floors 5 through 8 of the 44-story building.
