A small police aircraft crashed into the sea near a popular beach town in Thailand, killing at least 5 people on board, according to officials, reported Associated Press.
The plane was on a test flight for parachute training preparations in Hua Hin district when it crashed around 8 am, according to Royal Thai Police spokesperson Archayon Kraithong.
There were six police officers on board, according to Archayon. He first said that five had died at the scene and one had passed away at the hospital. However, he later clarified that the death toll stood at five, as the officer taken to the hospital was still alive but in critical condition.
The cause of the crash is unknown as of now. Archayon said that officials are currently collecting evidence, including data from the plane's black box.
