Gorakhpur to get Rs 87 crore tourism boost for 10 projects

Gorakhpur: The Uttar Pradesh government has approved 10 tourism development projects worth Rs 87.29 crore for Gorakhpur under the 2024-25 financial year, aiming to boost the district's appeal on the national tourism map, stated the Gorakhpur information department.

Tourism and culture minister Jaiveer Singh stated that most proposals were initiated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The executing agencies including the Uttar Pradesh Projects Corporation, UP State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, and C&DS have been directed to adhere to the targeted deadline while maintaining the quality of the work.

Major state-sector projects include integrated tourism development of Gorakhtaleya and Kabir Bhoomi, as well as transforming the birthplace of Paramhansa Yogananda into a spiritual tourism hub. Additionally, beautification of the Shiva Temple on Jail Road in Sadar tehsil has been approved.

Under the Chief Minister Tourism Development Participation Scheme, local MLAs have proposed development at key religious sites.

The development at Mahadeva Shiva Temple has been proposed by Khajni MLA Ram Chauhan, Kali Mata Temple in Brahmpur by Chauri-Chaura MLA Shravan Kumar Nishad, Jai Maa Karwal Dei Temple in Gagaha by Bansgaon MLA Vimlesh Paswan, Samay Sthan Temple in Gola by Chillupar MLA Rajesh Tripathi, Jharkhandi Mahadev Temple by Campierganj MLA Fateh Bahadur Singh and renovation at Ancient Shiva Temple in Khoraabar has been proposed by Khajni MLA Bipin Singh.

The initiative is expected to enhance religious tourism, generate local employment, and improve regional infrastructure.
